PHILADELPHIA — Nick Sirianni is betting on veteran speed to fix a broken engine. After a 2025 campaign that sputtered in a 23-19 Wild Card loss to the 49ers, the Eagles are remodeling the perimeter. The team officially locked in vertical threat Marquise “Hollywood” Brown on a one-year, $6.5 million deal and added shifty playmaker Elijah Moore to a room desperate for a spark.
The arrival of Brown and Moore isn’t just about collecting talent; it’s about a total schematic shift. New offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, hired away from the Packers in January, is expected to bring a high-motion, aggressive system to South Philly. Last season, the Eagles’ offense cratered, finishing 24th in total yards—the lowest mark of the Sirianni era. While Jalen Hurts managed 25 passing touchdowns and a career-low six interceptions, the explosive plays that defined the 2024 Super Bowl run were missing. Saquon Barkley also looked human, rushing for 421 yards a year after his 2,000-yard masterpiece.
Sirianni believes the new additions will force defenses to respect the deep ball again, opening lanes for Barkley and underneath routes for Dallas Goedert. The coaching staff is clearly looking for a different look than what Jahan Dotson provided last year, as Dotson managed only 18 catches across 10 starts before heading to free agency.
“I’ve always been a fan of them and their style. We are adding depth at every position. We need guys who can take the lid off and let Jalen work the middle of the field. This isn’t about one guy; it’s about making every snap a nightmare for the secondary.”— Nick Sirianni, Eagles Head Coach
Despite the excitement, a shadow looms over the NovaCare Complex. Rumors of an A.J. Brown trade continue to gain steam, with the New England Patriots reportedly prepared to offer a “Quinnen Williams-style” package for the All-Pro. Brown’s late-season struggles, including critical drops in the playoff loss to San Francisco, fueled speculation that the relationship had hit a wall. While Sirianni remains publicly supportive, the signings of Hollywood Brown and Moore provide much-needed insurance if Howie Roseman decides to pull the trigger on a blockbuster trade before the June 1 cap deadline.
The Eagles also bid farewell to Terrace Marshall Jr., who spent 2025 on the practice squad before signing a futures contract with the Dolphins in February. For now, the focus shifts to the 2026 Draft, where the Eagles hold the 23rd overall pick and could still look to add a “big-bodied” rookie to balance out the speed-heavy acquisitions of the winter.
