LOS ANGELES — Comedian Kevin Hart scrambled to separate WWE star Logan Paul and NFL legend Rob Gronkowski Thursday night as a heated war of words nearly turned into a full-scale brawl at the 2026 Fanatics Flag Football Classic promotional night. The confrontation erupted in front of cameras just days before the two are scheduled to captain opposing squads at BMO Stadium.
The bad blood boiled over when Gronkowski confronted Paul about his recent $1 million boxing challenge to NFL players. Earlier this week, Paul backed out of a scheduled bout with former Pro Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell, claiming WWE management blocked the fight to avoid injury risk. Gronkowski didn’t buy the excuse. He blasted Paul on “Up & Adams,” labeling the withdrawal as the “biggest crap of all time” and calling the social media star a “flake.”
Paul fired back on Thursday, leading to a nose-to-nose standoff. Hart spent several minutes wedged between the two athletes, physically pushing Gronkowski back while “Gronk” shouted threats over the host’s head. The audio was muffled by the roar of the Los Angeles crowd, but the physical tension was impossible to miss. Paul appeared to mock the future Hall of Fame tight end’s age, while Gronkowski repeatedly gestured toward the field, indicating he plans to settle the score during Saturday’s game.
“If Logan Paul wants a piece of me, I’m down. Throw it down on the field. I’ll whoop his a** right here in front of everyone. You don’t call people out and then hide behind a phone call. That’s soft.”
— Rob Gronkowski, Former NFL Tight End
Gronk wasn’t the only legend with a target on Paul’s back. Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady joined the promotional stage and immediately took aim at “The Maverick.” Brady referenced Paul’s decision to dodge Bell, suggesting that Paul is lucky certain defenders aren’t on the roster this week. “Myles Garrett didn’t make it. For your sake,” Brady quipped, referencing Paul’s previous claim that he could “throttle” the Browns’ star.
Brady didn’t stop there. He warned Paul that the flag football environment might not be as safe as he thinks. “Your flags are gonna be on white,” Brady said, implying Paul would be surrendering quickly. “We might have a fight this weekend. You might wear a helmet because the ball might get loose in my hand if you aren’t paying attention.” The dig left Paul visibly frustrated as he retreated to the other side of the stage, still guarded by security.
This isn’t just a friendly exhibition anymore. The Fanatics Flag Football Classic on Saturday has shifted from a star-studded gala to a grudge match. With Gronkowski promising physical contact and Brady explicitly targeting Paul’s lack of “boxing” grit, the atmosphere at BMO Stadium will be electric. Paul needs to prove he can handle the “big boys” on their turf, or his $1 million challenge will go down as one of the most embarrassing bluffs in sports history. The standings don’t matter here; pride and professional reputation are the only things on the line when the first whistle blows at 4:00 PM ET.
