DALLAS — The timeline is jarring. On Sunday, rapper Rubi Rose flaunted a daring white swimsuit look on Instagram, setting the internet ablaze just six days after going public with Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice. But while the new couple trades $2,400 Giuseppe Zanotti heels and chocolate-covered strawberries, a much darker reality surrounds the 25-year-old NFL star. Dacoda Jones, Rice’s former girlfriend and the mother of his two children, filed a $1 million domestic violence lawsuit in Dallas County District Court on Monday, detailing a horrifying 19-month pattern of alleged abuse.
Jones paints a grim picture of her relationship with Rice. The civil suit alleges the abuse occurred between December 2023 and July 2025 across their shared homes in Dallas and Missouri. Jones claims Rice grabbed, choked, pushed, scratched, hit, and headbutted her. The filing states the violence escalated to throwing objects and using items as weapons.
The aggression didn’t stop at physical strikes. Jones detailed fits of rage where Rice punched walls, shattered furniture, and deliberately locked her out of the house in the dead of night. Most disturbing of all, the lawsuit alleges some of this abuse occurred while Jones was pregnant.
This legal action follows Jones’s January 8 social media post, where she shared photos of injuries she claimed were the result of physical abuse. Rice has not publicly responded to the current allegations. As someone who has covered this league for over 15 years, I’ve seen how quickly off-field chaos derails on-field greatness. The contrast between Rice’s public romantic displays and these severe legal accusations creates a jarring reality for a young player whose judgment is under a harsh microscope.
While the lawsuit loomed, Rice and Rose painted a vastly different picture of his personal life. The couple’s February 15 Valentine’s Day reveal featured all the hallmarks of a celebrity hard launch. Rose shared a photo of a heart-shaped box filled with chocolate-dipped strawberries, boldly labeled “BEST D**K EVER.”
She followed up with shots of a red Gucci wallet and a pair of $2,400 stiletto sandals, adding the caption, “Daddy spoil his babyyyy.” The launch culminated with a photo of the pair kissing under a massive red heart arch.
Six days later, Rose maintained the momentum. On Sunday, she posted an Instagram story set to Coi Leray’s “BIG PURR (Prrdd),” posing in a minimal white bikini bottom and adjusting the thin strap to reveal a distinct tan line along her waist.

The Kansas City front office faces an absolute nightmare as they prepare for the 2026 season. Rice already served a six-game suspension at the start of the 2025 campaign following his conviction for a high-speed car crash. The NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy operates heavily on precedent. If the league validates these domestic violence claims, Rice is officially a repeat offender.
Commissioner Roger Goodell doesn’t hand out minor penalties for repeat offenders involving violence against women. We are looking at a baseline suspension of at least six games, but given his probation status and history, a full-season ban for the 2026 campaign is highly probable. The Chiefs need to prepare their depth chart immediately. They cannot rely on Rice taking the field anytime soon.
