Cardi B Planned This ? Rapper Trolls as Diggs Drama Hits Boiling Point After Super Bowl Loss

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The confetti from the Seattle Seahawks’ 29-13 Super Bowl LX victory had barely settled before the real fireworks started—not on the field, but on X (formerly Twitter). In a week where New England Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs lost the Lombardi Trophy, faced felony charges, and sparked breakup rumors, his estranged girlfriend Cardi B just poured gasoline on the fire.

The Tweet Heard ‘Round the World

While reports surfaced about a potential Department of Homeland Security shutdown, Cardi B dropped a GIF with a simple, chaotic caption: “I planned this.”

Ostensibly, she was mocking the political chaos (the “Bodak Yellow” rapper has never been shy about roasting the GOP). But the timing? Impeccable. Brutal. With 800,000 views and climbing, the internet isn’t buying the political angle entirely. Fans are reading between the lines, interpreting the post as a savage victory lap following the Patriots’ collapse and her reported split from Diggs.

Social Media Scrub & “Baby Brim”

The digital footprint tells the real story. Immediately following the Patriots’ blowout loss to the Seahawks—avenging that decade-old Malcolm Butler interception—Cardi B and Diggs hit the “unfollow” button on Instagram. In 2026, that’s practically a divorce decree.

This comes just months after the couple welcomed their son in November 2025. The whirlwind romance, which saw Cardi donning a Pats jersey in VIP boxes throughout the season, seems to have hit a wall faster than the Patriots’ offense did against Seattle’s “Legion of Boom 2.0” defense.

    Legal Trouble Mounts for Diggs

If the breakup and the Super Bowl L are bad, Friday’s headlines were worse. Less than 48 hours after walking off the field at Levi’s Stadium, Diggs stood in a Massachusetts courtroom.

The Charge: Felony strangulation and assault and battery.

Diggs pleaded not guilty at the Dedham District Court. The allegations stem from a December 2, 2025 dispute with his personal chef. According to police reports obtained by ESPN, the argument started over unpaid wages and escalated violently.

“He hit me across the face… [and] tried to choke me using the crook of his elbow.”

The arraignment was strategically postponed until after the Super Bowl to allow Diggs to play—a decision that looks even more controversial in hindsight given the Patriots’ lackluster performance.

Diggs’ attorney, Mitchell Schuster, didn’t mince words outside the courthouse, categorically denying the claims.

“This is a dispute over money, plain and simple. We will clear his name.”

Meanwhile, the Patriots organization remains tight-lipped. “We are aware of the situation,” was the only comment from the front office, a stark contrast to the noise surrounding the team just days prior.

    What’s Next?

Diggs is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on April 1, 2026. For the Patriots, the offseason begins under a dark cloud. They have to decide if a 32-year-old receiver facing felony charges is part of their rebuild. As for Cardi B? She’s likely already in the studio, turning this week’s drama into next summer’s anthem.
