Boring Bowl? Chris Jones Says the Chiefs Year Off is Over

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The confetti has settled at Levi’s Stadium, and the Seattle Seahawks are your Super Bowl LX champions. They grinded out a 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in a game that featured more punts (15) than highlights. Kenneth Walker III took home MVP honors with a bruising 135-yard performance, and Sam Darnold managed the game just enough to secure the ring.

But let’s be real. While Seattle celebrated, the rest of the NFL world was checking Twitter. That’s where Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones decided to drop a bomb that woke everyone up.

The Tweet Heard ‘Round the Kingdom

The Chiefs didn’t play yesterday. They weren’t even in the building. According to Jones, the dynasty just hit the snooze button for a season.

Minutes after the final whistle, Jones fired off a post that instantly went viral:

“Took a year off, we will be back to it next year!” — Chris Jones (@StoneColdJones), via X

Jones has a history of calling his shots, and he rarely misses. Think back to January 2022. The Chiefs had just blown an 18-point lead to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship. Jones watched the Rams lift the trophy that year and typed out a simple promise: “We will be in it next year.”

He wasn’t lying. Twelve months later, he was wrecking the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive line in Arizona to help Patrick Mahomes secure another ring. Jones takes these predictions personally. He missed crucial sacks in that Bengals loss, stewed on it all offseason, and came back a monster. Now, he’s setting the stage for a similar revenge tour in 2026.

    Seahawks Grind, Patriots Stumble

While Jones was plotting the future, the present was… gritty. This wasn’t the offensive fireworks show fans have gotten used to. The Seahawks’ “Dark Side” defense suffocated Patriots QB Drake Maye, sacking him six times. Maye looked every bit the young quarterback against a mastermind scheme, fumbling late in the third quarter to set up a critical Seattle score.

Sam Darnold didn’t need to be a hero. He just needed to hand the ball to Walker and let the defense cook. It wasn’t pretty, but banners fly forever.

The Road Back to the Mountaintop

Jones is talking a big game, but KC has hurdles to clear. The front office has a salary cap puzzle to solve before Free Agency opens in March. They need to restructure contracts to keep the core together before they even look at the 2026 NFL Draft.

But if history teaches us anything, it’s this: When Chris Jones plants a flag, you better pay attention. The Chiefs “year off” is officially over.
