Dolphins First-Round Buzz Explodes: Tate, Fano or Delane at No. 11?

MIAMI — The Miami Dolphins hold the No. 11 and No. 30 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft and suddenly every mock draft points a different direction. Tyreek Hill is gone. Jaylen Waddle is gone. De’Von Achane skipped the first day of voluntary workouts. The offense now runs through Malik Willis, and analysts cannot stop connecting the Dolphins to wide receiver Carnell Tate at No. 11.

WR Carnell Tate Leads the Chatter for Miami’s Top Pick

Jordan Reid of ESPN slotted Ohio State’s Carnell Tate to the Dolphins at No. 11 in his latest three-round mock. Tate’s route running, reliable hands and catch radius jump off the tape. Willis needs a true WR1 who can win on standard downs without gimmicks. Tate delivers exactly that from Day 1.

Matt Miller of ESPN took it further in his seven-round mock and gave Miami USC’s Makai Lemon at the same spot. Lemon creates separation in traffic and thrives over the middle. The debate now splits between a classic outside threat like Tate and a slot dynamo like Lemon who simplifies reads for the new quarterback.

Both receivers fill the massive hole left by Hill and Waddle. The Dolphins enter the draft with 11 total selections and unusual flexibility for a team in transition. They do not have to force a wideout if the board tilts elsewhere.

Offensive Line or Secondary? Alternative Paths at No. 11

Tim Crean of ClutchPoints challenged the receiver narrative and mocked Utah OT Spencer Fano to Miami at No. 11. Fano started three years at left tackle for the Utes and flashed elite athleticism at the Combine. He projects as a long-term starter at tackle, guard or even center. Crean argues the Dolphins must rebuild the offense from the inside out before chasing skill players.

CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards sent LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane to Miami at No. 11. Delane’s press coverage and speed address the secondary losses. Edwards noted the Dolphins can still find offensive pieces later because they own two first-rounders and seven top-100 picks.

Nick Shook of NFL.com projected Tennessee cornerback Colton Hood to Miami at No. 30. Hood fits defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley’s press-man scheme and gives the Dolphins a Day 1 contributor on the perimeter. Shook’s call reinforces the theme: address one side of the ball early, then balance the roster with the second first-rounder.

What It Means for the Rebuild and Beyond

The Dolphins no longer look like a complete teardown. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley inherited cap pressure and a thinned-out roster, but the haul of picks creates real momentum. Selecting a receiver at 11 loads Willis with immediate weapons. Grabbing Fano shores up protection and opens lanes for Achane. Going corner early with Delane or Hood stops the bleeding on defense without ignoring the passing game later.

You could feel the shift during voluntary workouts. The sideline chatter turned from “what if” to “how soon.” Analysts now treat Miami as a team with a clear plan instead of a franchise grasping for any help. The next two weeks will decide whether the Dolphins swing for offense, fortify the trenches or lock down the secondary first. Either path leaves them with seven more selections inside the top 100 to keep reshaping the roster.

The 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh sits just weeks away. For a Dolphins team that traded away its star receivers and signed Willis to lead the charge, these mock draft links show the possibilities sharpening fast.
