Kyle Pitts Blasts NFL Players for “Fake Emotion” After Low Turnout at Rondale Moore Memorial

INDIANAPOLIS — Atlanta Falcons star Kyle Pitts didn’t hold back Friday night after attending the celebration of life for his close friend and former teammate, Rondale Moore. The standout tight end took to social media to call out what he described as a staggering lack of support from the NFL community, claiming only 6 or 7 former teammates showed up to pay their final respects to the 25-year-old receiver.

Moore was found dead in his Indiana home on Feb. 21, 2026. Local authorities later confirmed the cause of death as a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound. While the league saw a massive wave of digital tributes following the news, Pitts suggested those public displays of grief didn’t translate into physical presence when it mattered most.

“Be Woke on Who Your Brothers Really Are”

The atmosphere in Indiana was heavy as friends and family gathered to remember a player known for his electric speed and quiet resilience. However, the empty seats where NFL peers should have been sat as a glaring reminder of the league’s often transactional nature. Pitts, who played with Moore during the 2024 season in Atlanta, voiced his frustration through a series of blunt Instagram Stories late Friday evening.

He targeted the discrepancy between social media “clout” and genuine brotherhood. The 49ers and Cardinals had multiple players post tributes last month, yet the actual turnout in Indiana told a different story. Pitts noted the pain of seeing a “brother” laid to rest with so few of his professional peers in attendance. He urged younger players to recognize who actually stands by them when the cameras are off and the pads are put away.

“Crazy how only about 6 maybe 7 of your teammates in the NFL showed up for you today… All that talk and fake emotion and nobody want to show up to lay you to rest. Just at a loss of words. Be woke on who your ‘brothers’ really are.”
    — Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons Tight End

A Career Cut Short by Injury and Tragedy

Moore’s journey through the league was a relentless battle against bad luck. After a stellar career at Purdue, the Arizona Cardinals drafted him in 2021. He spent three seasons in the desert, flashing brilliance before a trade sent him to the Falcons in 2024. A season-ending injury derailed his time in Atlanta, and a similar fate met him in March 2025 after he signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Moore missed the entire 2025 season after another preseason injury, leaving him in a difficult spot professionally before his passing last month.

The conversation now shifts from the field to the locker room culture. Pitts’ comments highlight a growing concern regarding player mental health and the isolation that often follows season-ending injuries. When a player is no longer on the active roster, they often vanish from the daily life of the team. For Moore, that isolation seemingly grew into something far more permanent. The Falcons and Vikings have yet to issue official responses to Pitts’ specific criticisms regarding the service attendance.
