Ethics Policy

Last updated: August 27, 2026

NHANFL writers and editors follow these rules on every story.

Honesty

Ethics Policy

We do not fabricate quotes, documents, or sources. We do not copy another outlet’s work and present it as ours. If we rely on someone else’s reporting, we name them.

Fairness

People and teams named in a story get a chance to respond when time allows. We do not use insults in place of reporting. Injury and personal matters are handled with care; we do not publish medical details we cannot support.

Independence

No payment from players, agents, teams, or sportsbooks for coverage. Gifts of material value are declined. Tickets or credentials are for reporting only, not a reason to soften a story.

Advertising is separate from the newsroom. See Ownership & Funding.

Conflicts of interest

Staff must tell an editor if they have a family, business, or financial tie to a subject they would cover. That writer does not take the story.

Fantasy lineups and personal fandom stay off the record and out of news copy.

Social media

Official NHANFL accounts speak for the site. Personal accounts should not leak unpublished reporting or attack sources. Breaking news still goes through the desk before it is posted.

Corrections and accountability

Errors are corrected in public, not quietly deleted. Process: Corrections Policy. How we verify: Fact-Checking Policy.

Conduct

Harassment of sources, colleagues, or readers is grounds for removal from the site. Tips are not sold or shared outside the newsroom.
