HOUSTON — The Houston Texans are turning the Pro Bowl into a H-Town takeover. The NFL confirmed Monday that safety Calen Bullock and cornerback Kamari Lassiter joined linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair as first-time Pro Bowl selections for the 2026 Games. This defensive surge brings Houston’s total count to six participants, tying them for the most in the league this season.

    The Secondary Gets Their Flowers

While Al-Shaair was an original selection back in December, Bullock and Lassiter officially moved from alternates to active roster participants this week. They replace Jalen Ramsey and Christian Gonzalez, respectively. It is a massive statement for a Texans secondary that spent the year erasing opposing deep threats. Bullock, in just his second season, finished the regular season with 64 tackles and 4 interceptions, including a massive 50-yard pick-six in the Wild Card win over Pittsburgh.

Lassiter proved he belongs on the island. The former Georgia standout led all NFL cornerbacks with 91 total tackles and added 4 interceptions of his own. His 17 passes defensed ranked fourth in the AFC, showing a “want-to” physicality that defensive coordinator Matt Burke has preached since training camp. The duo of Lassiter and Derek Stingley Jr. becomes the first cornerback tandem in franchise history to earn Pro Bowl honors in the same season.

“We knew the work we put in during the dark hours of July would show up in January. Seeing ‘Hawk’ and ‘Lock’ get that call—it’s just the beginning for this group. We’re building a culture that people have to respect.” — Azeez Al-Shaair, Texans Linebacker

    Statistical Dominance and What’s Next

The Texans’ defense didn’t just accumulate accolades; they earned them by the numbers. Houston finished the 2025 regular season leading the NFL in yards allowed per game (272.3) and scoring defense (16.6 PPG). While the Divisional Round loss to New England still stings, the heavy presence of Texans in the Pro Bowl suggests the window for a Super Bowl run is wide open.

Fans can catch the Texans contingent in action at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The Pro Bowl Games kick off on February 1, 2026, with the main flag football event airing on ESPN on February 3. With Will Anderson Jr. also named a Defensive Player of the Year finalist, the individual honors are stacking up for a roster that DeMeco Ryans has turned into a defensive powerhouse in record time.
